232 metric tonnes of urea imported from China

SINDHUPALCHOWK, March 24: A total of 232 metric tonnes of urea fertilizer has been imported from China through the Tatopani transit, said the Tatopani Customs Office. This import is expected to give relief to farmers who have been reeling under shortage of fertilizers.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, March 24: A total of 232 metric tonnes of urea fertilizer has been imported from China through the Tatopani transit, said the Tatopani Customs Office. This import is expected to give relief to farmers who have been reeling under shortage of fertilizers. 


The chemical fertilizer was imported on Wednesday as part of a contract awarded to a company, Silk Market, to import the total 10,000 metric tonnes of the fertilizer from China, said Narad Gautam of the Silk Market.

The fertilizer would be sent to Kathmandu after the Department of Customs gives a nod in this regard, he said. As part of the import, Silk Market in the first trip imported 1,500 metric tonnes of the fertilizer from China six month ago. The process to import the remaining 8,500 metric tonnes has started, said the Silk Market.
