296 Nepalis brought home from Kuwait and Oman

KATHMANDU, June 18: A total of 296 Nepalis were brought back to Nepal from Kuwait and Oman on Thursday.


According to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), 150 passengers from Kuwait and 146 from Oman arrived at the airport in the afternoon. Jazeera Airways from Kuwait and SalamAir from Oman were used for the evacuation flights.

Similarly, Himalaya Airlines had two flights to Malaysia and Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The airline is bringing stranded Nepalis from Malaysia whereas its flight to Saudi Arabia for today was cancelled. Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) aircraft are scheduled to depart for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, the United Arab Emirates in the late evening today. According to TIA, the aircraft will come back with the passengers tomorrow.


Meanwhile, a Qatar Airways aircraft is also arriving at TIA with one passenger who was denied entry at Frankfurt Airport. The aircraft will carry 300 passengers out of Nepal on the same day at 4:30 pm, according to an official at the TIA.
