Six including film producer Wagle held with 26 m fake banknotes

KATHMANDU, May 16: Police have arrested six persons with Rs 26.06 million fake banknotes in the capital on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, May 16: Police have arrested six persons with Rs 26.06 million fake banknotes in the capital on Wednesday. 


Metropolitan Police Range Office (MPRO), Kathmandu arrested Mahendra Bogati, Madhav Wagle, Bikesh Natif, Sujit Tamang and Sajan Tamang from Princess Movie Pvt. Ltd, Char Dhunge, Naxal, Kamal Pokhari and Lubhu.


According to DSP Mohan Kumar Thapa, they were planning to use the money to clear their restaurant dues, to pay prostitutes and to pay back the loan taken for gambling.

The plan had it that the fake notes would be used by mixing them with the original notes. 


Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu, that had started a search operation to crack down on the smuggling of fake banknotes since Tuesday evening arrested them along with the aforementioned notes as of Wednesday morning.


The arrested were made public at a press meeting at the MPRO, Teku, Kathmandu at 5 pm today. 


According to sources, the number of those involved in fake notes racketeering is likely to go up.
