KATHMANDU, May 2: The arrival rate of foreign tourists in Nepal has increased by 159.9 percent in April 2022 as compared to the corresponding period last year.
A total of 58,348 international visitors came to Nepal in April of 2022 while the number was 22,450 last year. Similarly, the number of departures was 52,663 in the review month.
July brings 64,500 tourists to Nepal amid off-season
In 2020, just about 14 foreign tourists visited the country due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, while a total of 109,399 visited Nepal in April of 2019.
Among the tourists who arrived in April, 42 percent of them were from SAARC countries. A total of 22,477 Indian tourists entered the country in the review month. Similarly, 1,537 were from Bangladesh, 244 from Sri Lanka, 204 from Pakistan, and 86 from Bhutan.
Likewise, 3.5 percent of the tourists were from other Asian countries, 27.94 percent were from Europe, 4.84 percent from Oceania, 13.68 percent were from the Americas and 7.82 percent were from other countries.
