37 metric tonnes of garbage managed from major rivers in valley

KATHMANDU, April 22: As high a 37 metric tonnes of garbage was collected and managed from major rivers and ring road area in the Kathmandu valley on Saturday. 


It is said that 11 metric tonnes of garbage was managed while cleaning the Bagmati river near Thapathali bridge today as part of the 206th week of Bagmati clean-up campaign. 

Member of the High-Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee Narayan Shrestha said that more than 650 people joined the clean-up campaign in the drizzle in the morning today.

Administering oath to the participants of the clean-up campaign, secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Dinesh Thapaliya said that the clean-up campaign would be launched in all 744 local levels till the 300th week of the Bagmati Clean-up Mega Campaign. 


The Rudramati river clean-up campaign was conducted along the Siphal-Kalopul-Sahidmarg-Gyaneshwor and one metric tonne of garbage was managed. 


Likewise, seven metric tonnes of waste was removed from the Bishnumati river near Ghalepul in Tarakeshwor Municipality while one metric tonne of waste was managed after collecting from Bagmati river above Guheshwori section. 


Personnel of Nepalese Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, Nepal and general public participated in the clean-up campaign today. RSS
