BHAKTAPUR, Jan 12: The Human Organ Transplant Centre, Bhaktapur has so far performed kidney transplant on 386 patients.
Coming into operation in 23 April 2012, the Centre has transplanted kidney on 104 patients during the past nine months, shard Centre's Executive Director Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha.

He informed that the Centre provides haemodialysis service to 100 patients daily under its 24-hour service.
Director Shrestha further informed that the Centre has successfully transplanted kidney and lever received from brain-dead person for the first time in Nepal and also provided Endoscopic Ultrasound service, first of its kind at government hospital, to the patients.
The Centre has increased its service with rise in the number of kidney patients on the one hand and on the other it is launching open heart surgery service for the first time in Bhaktapur soon, Dr Shrestha informed.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on January 1 took the decision to change its name to Dharmabhakta Human Organ Transplant Centre. He said the name board of the centre will be changed once the circular is received from Ministry of Health.(RSS)
