4029 players to vie in 7th national games

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: The upcoming seventh national games scheduled for December 22 to 30 in Eastern Region is set to feature 40 games including 35 official and five exhibition.

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: The upcoming seventh national games scheduled for December 22 to 30 in Eastern Region is set to feature 40 games including 35 official and five exhibition.


Organizing a press meet in capital on Friday, National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista (NSC) informed that medals in four games including archery, golf, fencing and snooker won’t be counted among 35 official games.

NSC informed that the National Games will see 4029 players vying in 36 games for 328 gold and silver each and 481 bronze. The Games will be held in six districts of Eastern region including Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Dhankuta, Saptari and Siraha besides Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski.


The later three districts will host fencing, squash and tennis respectively due to unavailability of required infrastructure in Eastern Region. Bista also informed that the infrastructure development for the Games was in its last phase of completion.


The inauguration ceremony will be held at the Shahid Stadium, Biratnagar and closing ceremony will be organized at the Dharan Stadium. On the occassion, Bista also informed that the daily allowance of the players has been increased from Rs 800 to Rs 1400.
