LAHAN, May 26: Five new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were confirmed in Siraha district on Monday evening.
Four patients from Bhagwanpur Rural Municipality and one from Nawarajpur Rural Municipality of the district tested positive for this virus at the Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), according to District Health Office Chief Krishna Dev Yadav.
With 72 new cases, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally spikes to 675
They all had returned from Gudgaun of India on May 14 and had been staying at a quarantine facility setup in the rural municipality. Their swab samples were collected on May 18 and sent to Kathmandu.
After COVID-19 infection was confirmed, they were taken to a COVID-19 hospital set up at Mahendra Genai Hospital in Dhangadhimai Municipality.
With this, the number of COVID-19 cases in Siraha district has reached six.
Meanwhile, one patient each from Rautahat and Dhanusha were also diagnosed with this fatal disease.
Province 2 which shares its southern border with India has reported a total of 240 cases of COVID-19 disease so far.
