With 468 new cases in last 24 hours, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally hits 26,019

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: As many as 468 new cases were detected in the past 24 hours taking Nepal’s COVID-19 tally to 26,019 on Saturday.


According to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 468 new cases were detected through 11,047 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests conducted at various laboratories across the nation.

As of Saturday afternoon, there are 8,193 active cases in Nepal. There are around 854 COVID-19 patients in Province 1 and 3,827 cases in Province 2 currently undergoing treatment. Similarly,  2,002 cases in Bagmati Province, 262 in Gandaki Province, 736 in Province 5 and 225 in Karnali Province and 810 in Sudurpaschim Province are currently undergoing treatment in various isolation centers.


According to the latest data from the MoHP, 98 COVID-19  patients are in the Intensive Care Unit and four are undergoing treatment with the support of ventilators. 


The MoHP also confirmed three more COVID-19 related deaths, taking Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll to 102.


Likewise, 124 people who had earlier tested positive for the virus have recovered and returned home. So far, 17,201 COVID-19 patients have recovered in Nepal.
