54 health workers infected in Tanahun

TANAHUN, Jan 23: Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 54 health workers and staff working in different offices of the district.

TANAHUN, Jan 23: Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 54 health workers and staff working in different offices of the district.


A total of 17 people at Bhimad Primary Health Post in Bhimad Municipality-6 have been confirmed infected. Sagar Ghimire, Acting Chief Physician of the Post, said that the service of the health post was stopped after COVID-19 was confirmed on most of them. This includes three doctors. 


Three of the four people working in the Health Department of the municipality have also been infected with COVID-19. Another 14 employees working in the office of Shuklagand Municipality have been infected. As the infection is on the rise, all but essential services from the municipal office have been shut down.

Chief Administrative Officer Lilavallabh Neupane said  that the service has been suspended from Friday until further notice.


Six health workers working at Khairenitar Health Post in Shuklagandaki-4 Dulegauda Bazaar have also contracted COVID-19. 


Furthermore, infection has been confirmed in 14 employees and health workers of Aabukhaireni Rural Municipality. 


According to the Health Directorate Gandaki, 42 health workers in the district have been confirmed coronavirus positive. Currently, 389 people are infected in the district.
