972,000 doses of Covishield vaccine arriving in Nepal today

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: As many as 972,000 doses of Covishield vaccine from the Serum Institute of India are set to arrive in Nepal today.

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: As many as 972,000 doses of Covishield vaccine from the Serum Institute of India are set to arrive in Nepal today. 


According to Upendra Dhungana, chief of the Supply Division, Department of Health Services, the vaccines are being given to Nepal under the COVAX facility. Likewise, around 600,000 doses of the vaccine will arrive in Nepal on December 8 under COVAX. Stating that Nepal is getting a regular supply of vaccines, Dhungana urged everyone above the age of 18 to get vaccinated.

Similarly, the Moderna vaccine, which is eligible for use by children, is also set to arrive in Nepal by Friday. As many as 188,000 doses of Moderna vaccine were procured by Nepal from the US, according to Dhungana. So far, 26.9 million doses of vaccines have entered Nepal, Dhungana said.
