Absconding murderers arrested after 17 years

Makawanpur, Jan 14: Police on Sunday arrested two murders who were absconding for 17 years after the crime.


The arrested ones are Ramchandra Syangtan, 45, and Kalu Gole, 50, of Thaha municipality-12 in Makanpur district. A team of police from Area Police Office, Palung held them from Gaurigaun of Thaha municipality, according to the District Police Office (DPO), Makawanpur.

Laxmi Bhandari, Spokesperson at the DPO, Makawanpur, shared that two had beaten to death Sona Lahure Tamang, 72 of Gaurigaun in the locality on June 2, 2006.


The District Court, Makawanpur had handed down 20 years of imprisonment to both Syangtan and Gole on September 24, 2010 finding them guilty for the murder of Tamang.


Both the culprits were on the run after being sentenced to jail by the District Court. Police nabbed them from their own houses during the manhunt, according to Spokesperson Bhandari.


Both of the arrested ones were produced in front of the District Court, Makawanpur on Sunday itself.
