Qian assaulted her when she was at her office space. But she somehow managed to escape his attempt to rape her, said the victim. The victim was all alone in the office when the incident took place.
“The incident took place on March 10 and I reported the case to the police within 24-hours,” she told Republica, adding: “He absconded for a long time following the incident. And, I also stopped going to work.”
After absconding for two and a half months, the accused surrendered himself to the police on Monday. Police said the accused surrendered stating that he would assist in the investigation. “An investigation into the case is currently underway. Further proceedings on the case will be expedited as per the existing laws,” said a police official involved in the investigation.
The victim started her job as a translator at the company from the third week of February, 2022. “I frequently visited the police station for the update, but he was still at large. I even went to the company but he was not there,” the victim said. “Now that he is in custody, I just hope justice will be served.”
