Advocates say Rana cannot return to court until conclusion of impeachment motion against him

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Senior advocate and former president of Nepal Bar Association Chandeshwar Shrestha has said that the suspended Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra SJB Rana will not return to work in the Supreme Court until the impeachment motion registered against him is decided by the House of Representatives.

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Senior advocate and former president of Nepal Bar Association Chandeshwar Shrestha has said that the suspended Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra SJB Rana will not return to work in the Supreme Court until the impeachment motion registered against him is decided by the House of Representatives.


He reached the main gate of the Supreme Court on Sunday when there was a discussion about the preparation of suspended CJ Rana to return to work after the end of the term of the House of Representatives.

Senior Advocate Shrestha also claimed that the suspended Chief Justice Rana cannot return to work in the Supreme Court until the impeachment proceedings have been initiated and it is clearly mentioned in Article 101, Clause 6 of the Constitution.


Similarly, former member of the National Assembly and senior advocate Ram Narayan Bidari has said that the House of Representatives will look into the impeachment of CJ Rana after the polls. Speaking to the media, Bidari said that the House of Representatives will look into the impeachment against Rana after the election on November 20.
