With 166 new cases confirmed Sunday, Nepal's COVID-19 tally jumps to 1,567

KATHMANDU, May 31: Nepal's COVID-19 tally has reached 1,567 after the confirmation of 166 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said.

KATHMANDU, May 31: Nepal's COVID-19 tally has reached 1,567 after the confirmation of 166 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population said.


At a regular media briefing, Bikash Devkota, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that three persons tested positive for coronavirus during tests carried out at Gandaki Province Lab in Pokhara.


Similarly, Narayan Hospital in Birgunj recorded five cases of coronavirus, and a lab at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences reported 37 cases of COVID-19.

Devkota said that the Surkhet-based provincial lab reported 26 cases of coronavirus and one person tested positive for COVID-19 at Dhulikhel Hospital.


Likewise, Bheri Hospital reported eight cases of coronavirus while the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences reported 12 cases, the spokesperson shared. According to him, Seti Hospital and Koshi Hospital reported five cases of coronavirus each. 


National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, reported 64 cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to spokesperson Devkota.


"As of today, 220 persons who earlier tested positive for virus have returned home after recovery," he said.
