CHITWAN, July 18:The Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Rampur has made it clear that it had granted its affiliations to eight private colleges through a due process.
The University stated this by organising a press meet here today. University vice chancellor Prof Dr Ishwari Prasad Dhakal said affiliations were given to seven private colleges for running the Bachelors' degree classes on agriculture and to one college for the forestry course by completing all required processes.

The University realised the need of giving its affiliations to the private sector, bearing in mind growing interest among students to pursue higher degrees in agriculture and forestry. The university wants to address this situation, according to the vice chancellor. University Registrar Manaraj Kolakshapati defending vice chancellor said the University move was protested for no cause at all.
The University officials have no personal and connections to those colleges which were awarded the affiliations through a process for meeting all required criteria which also includes physical infrastructure, he added.
It may be noted that students and University teachers have been agitated by the decision to grant affiliations to the private colleges and have demanded its withdrawal. RSS
