KATHMANDU, Aug 13: An Air India flight en route to Kathmandu from New Delhi was redirected to Banaras due to unfavorable weather conditions along the Kathmandu route. Subsequently, the aircraft has successfully landed in Banaras and is now preparing to resume its journey back to Kathmandu.
In a related development, both Sichuan Airlines and Air China encountered cancellations on Sunday as adverse weather conditions forced them to cancel their flights inbound from China to Kathmandu. The Tribhuvan International Airport office confirmed these cancellations, underscoring the challenges posed by the inclement weather.

Furthermore, flights to Bhutan have also been significantly affected by the prevailing weather patterns. The airport office said that even if the final destination remains unaffected, flight operations can be impeded if adverse weather conditions persist along the flight path.
Meanwhile, the airports in Pokhara and Surkhet remain closed due to the ongoing weather challenges, leading to disruptions in flight schedules. Similarly, scheduled flights to Tumlingtar of Sankhuwasabha for Sunday have been called off.
