KATHMANDU, June 16: All public transportation vehicles heading outside the Kathmandu Valley will only depart from the New Bus Park, effective from today.
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has imposed a system to operate public transportation from the new bus park at Gongbu from today in order to organize the public vehicles within Kathmandu. The Metropolis has instructed the vehicle operators that the public vehicles operating on long, medium and short distances from within the Kathmandu Metropolis to outside the valley will only operate from the New Bus Park, Gongbu.

The metropolis has said, 'In order to improve the situation by implementing the decision, from June 16, 2023, all ticket counters outside the new bus park are to be removed and public vehicles are to be operated only from the new bus park. Long-distance vehicles with road permits up to Dhulikhel, Banepa, Sankhu etc are prohibited to stop the vehicle from Kalanki to Jabiduti.
The KMC has issued a warning that legal action will be taken against those who violate the decision. Along with the implementation of this decision, around 2,000 public microbuses and jeeps will now operate from within the Kathmandu Valley to destinations outside from New Bus Park. No matter where the vehicle is parked at night, it is now required to reach the New Bus Park to board the passengers.
Earlier, only large public vehicles used to operate from the New Bus Park.
