He said that the amendment proposal is being drafted based on common understanding reached among the political parties.

“However, I am really surprised by statements from leaders from the main opposition CPN-UML that no such understanding has been reached regarding constitution amendment,” he said.

He criticized CPN-UML leaders for avoiding the major political parties’ initiative to forge consensus on constitution amendment proposal.

“Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and leaders from the Nepal Congress have already held several rounds of talks with CPN-UML on constitution amendment proposal. I do not understand why they are saying that they have not discussed about the constitution amendment issue with us,” he added.

He accused the CPN-UML of trying to pose hurdles in the constitution amendment process.
