APF downs Army to win KNP National Women Volleyball

KATHMANDU, May 1: In a clash of departmental teams, Armed Police Force Club (APF) defeated Tribhuvan Army Club in straight sets of 25-14, 29-9, 25-15 to win the fifth KNP National Women Volleyball Tournament held at Nepal Army’s Training and Coaching Covered Hall in Lalitpur on Tuesday. This is APF’s fifth KNP title.

KATHMANDU, May 1: In a clash of departmental teams, Armed Police Force Club (APF) defeated Tribhuvan Army Club in straight sets of 25-14, 29-9, 25-15 to win the fifth KNP National Women Volleyball Tournament held at Nepal Army’s Training and Coaching Covered Hall in Lalitpur on Tuesday. This is APF’s fifth KNP title.


Saraswati Chaudhary scored 27 points in spike, 8 in block and 1 in service to propel experienced APF to its fifth title. Chaudhary also went on to win the most valuable player of the tournament. Similarly, the player of the final match, Nebika Chaudhary scored 23 points in spike, 6 in block and 1 in service. Likewise, Hira KC collected 9 points each in spike and block. Army’s Niruta Thagunna’s 13, Sunita Khadka’s 12 and Sofia Pun’s 9 points went in vain in the match.

APF received a cash prize of Rs 100,000 as the title winner. New Diamond Club secured the third position defeating the other departmental team Nepal Police Club in straight sets of 25-22, 25-18, 25-22. The tournament was organized by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Trust and Japanese company Kansai Nerolac Paint (KNP).


New Diamond’s Pratibha Mali, APF’s Hira KC, Binita Budhathoki, Manisha Tamang and Army’s Pun won the best spiker, blocker, setter, defender and server of the tournament. APF’s Pushpa Malla won the best coach award. Each winner received a cash prize of Rs 7000.
