KATHMANDU, March 28: Departmental teams Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Nepal Police Club will take on each other for a place in the Armed Police Force IGP 6th National Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Thursday.
Likewise, New Diamond Academy will face Tribhuvan Army Club for the other place.
At the APF’s Volleyball Court in Halchowk, APF and New Diamond won all their games on Wednesday to reach the semifinals.
Departmental teams dominate Srijana volleyball
APF became the Group A winner and will face Group B runner-up Police, while Group B winner New Diamond will take on Group A winner Army.
On the day, APF, inspired by a brilliant Reshma Bhandari performance, defeated Dhorpatan Training Center on straight sets of 25-1, 21-10, 25-2. Bhandari was declared the man of the match as he recorded personal eight points.
On the same day, New Diamond beat Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center on straight sets of 25-10, 25-5, 25-7 as Panamika Rai played wonderfully for the winning team.
The top two teams of the tournament reached the semifinals as the tournament is being played in league cum knockout format.
The winner of the tournament will take home a cash prize of Rs 250,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 175,000. Likewise, the team who finishes third will get Rs 50,000.
Also, the best player of the tournament will get a scooter, while the best spiker, the best blocker, the best setter, the best server, the best defender and the best coach will receive Rs 5,000 each.
