CHITWAN, Feb 11: Two departmental teams--Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Armed Police Force (APF)—and Shivam New Diamond Academy (NDA) have started the first Mayor Cup International Invitational Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Saturday in Patihani, Chitwan.
NDA beat India’s Hariyana Police on straight sets of 3-0 with 25-20, 25-7, 25-15 set win in the group B match.
Departmental teams dominate Srijana volleyball
In the other match of group A, APF saw off Impact Bangladesh on easy sets of 3-0 with 25-12, 25-15, 25-10 set win.
In the other group B match, TAC overcame Chitwan Tigers 25-12, 25-15, 25-10.
A total of seven teams in the tournament are divided into two groups and the top two teams of each group advance to the last four.
The winner of the tournament, which will be played in league cum knockout format, will take home Rs 200,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 100,000. Likewise, the third-placed and the fourth-placed team get Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
