Army, Sankta to vie for Bishal Memorial Gold Cup title

BIRGUNJ, April 27: Tribhuvan Army Club has set summit clash against CMG Club Sankata in the Bishal Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament beating Nawa Jana Jagriti Club 3-0 in the semifinal match on Thursday. Skipper Bharat Khawas scored a brace for Army while George Prince Karki added another to overcome the Simara-based outfit.

BIRGUNJ, April 27: Tribhuvan Army Club has set summit clash against CMG Club Sankata in the Bishal Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament beating Nawa Jana Jagriti Club 3-0 in the semifinal match on Thursday. Skipper Bharat Khawas scored a brace for Army while George Prince Karki added another to overcome the Simara-based outfit. 



Earlier in the first semifinal match of the tournament on Wednesday, Sankata had defeated Nepal Police Club 3-0 to reach the final. 



In the second semifinal match played at Narayani Stadium, Birgunj, George gave lead to Army scoring in the 22nd minute. National team striker Bharat extended the departmental side's lead by 2-0 in the 80th minute and netted his personal second goal just two minutes before end of the normal time. 



The final match between Army and Sankata will be played on Saturday. Champion of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 500,000 while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 250,000. Similarly the most valuable player of the tournament will be rewarded with a motorcycle. The tournament that is being organized by Bishal Memorial Foundation had kicked off from April 22.
