Baglung flood updates: 10 dead bodies recovered, at least 41 others still missing

BAGLUNG, Sept 3: The dead bodies of 10 people who had gone missing in floods at Dhorpatan Municipality in Baglung district on Wednesday night have been recovered.


At least 41 people went missing when a swollen Bhuji River gushed into settlements at the municipality’s 7, 8 and 9 wards, destroying 31 houses, according to the Baglung District Police Office.

Four people were injured in the flood caused by heavy rainfall since Tuesday night. The number of those missing in the disaster could rise as exact details of the incident are awaited, said the police. According to the police, the injured have been identified as Mahendra Pun, 15, Sarita Gharti, 28, Dharmendra Pun, 42, and Belmati Pun, 54, of Dhorpatan Municipality-4, Dunepokhari.


The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajendra Regmi. "There is information that 41 people have gone missing in the floods," he said. A team of Nepal Police and Nepal Army has been deployed to the disaster site for search and rescue operation.
