Bhairahawa Gladiators signs Upul Tharanga

KATHMANDU, September 3: Bhairahawa Gladiators have successfully completed the signing of former Sri Lanka captain Upul Tharanga for the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL), which is scheduled to start from September 25 till October 9 at the TU ground.

KATHMANDU, September 3: Bhairahawa Gladiators have successfully completed the signing of former Sri Lanka captain Upul Tharanga for the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL), which is scheduled to start from September 25 till October 9 at the TU ground. 


The club had earlier announced the signing of former Sri Lankan captain and wicket keeper Dinesh Chandimal as well. However, Chandimal will be absent from the upcoming league due to his commitment for international duties.

Left-arm wicketkeeper Upul Tharanga has played 31 Tests, 235 ODIs and 26 T20Is for Sri Lanka. He has experience of 125 T20 games. In ODIs, he has scored a total of 6,951 runs, including 15 centuries and 37 fifties. His outstanding performance came in 2013 against India with unbeaten 174 runs. He has scored 3,384 runs in T20 cricket including two centuries and 19 fifties.


Former Nepali cricket coach Pubudu Dassanayake has been selected as the coach of the team. With Sharad Vesawkar as the captain, Arif Sheikh, Rohit Kumar Poudel, Abhinash Bohara and Kushal Malla are the young star players of the current Nepali team playing for the Bhairahawa Gladiators. Similarly, Pradeep Airee, Bhuvan Karki, Krishna Karki, Anil Kharel, Harishankar Shah, Deepesh Shrestha, Vikas Agri, DurgeshThapa and Himanshu Dutt are the other domestic players in the team.
