KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Bharati Manandhar has started a hunger strike until death, calling for justice for her late husband, Chetan Manandhar, who was killed by Yog Raj Dhakal aka Regal. Dhakal was released after receiving a presidential pardon on Constitution Day. Bharati, who began her fast on Wednesday at Maitighar Mandala, declared that she will not return home until she gets justice. She expressed, "I will persist in this fight until justice is served. I am prepared to sacrifice my life, but I will not leave until justice is achieved."

Regal fatally attacked Chetan on July 13, 2015, in Nepalgunj. In May 2019, the Banke District Court found him guilty and subsequently sentenced him to life imprisonment. Ten others involved in the incident were also convicted, with prison terms ranging from three to 10 years, based on their level of involvement. Despite this, the government recommended Dhakal's pardon on Constitution Day, leading to his release.
