KATHMANDU, May 18: The police on Thursday arrested the leader of the Bhutanese refugees Tek Nath Rijal on the charge of his involvement in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dan Bahadur Karki, Chief of Kathmandu Police Range, confirmed the arrest of Rijal. According to him, police nabbed Rijal for necessary investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugees scam.

Police arrested Rijal from Jhapa and brought him to Kathmandu on Thursday. Rijal’s involvement in the case has been suspected after Sanu Bhandari, an accused of the case, stated in his diary that he had provided Rijal with Rs 700,000.
Rijal, however, has been refusing the accusation. Of late, Rijal has been raising the issue of rehabilitating the remaining over 6,000 Bhutanese refugees.
Four years ago, the government formed a task force led by Balkrishna Panthi to solve the problems related to the Bhutanese refugees, who still lived in the camps in Nepal after all other refugees were resettled in various western countries including the US.
