KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Bhutanese refugee leader Teknath Rijal has been released on bail on Wednesday following the court verdict over a case on fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

He was detained for seven months in the course of trial. High Court Patan had issued an order of his release on the bail amount of Rs 1.5 million. However, he was not able to deposit bail on time, thereby extending the detention at Sundhara Jail, according to Rijal's aide, Bishwonath Chhetri.

Following his release, Rijal thanked all sides assisting him in the course of litigation.
