KATHMANDU, May 21: The Bibeksheel Sajha Party has urged opposition parties and members of parliament to unite and take an initiative to form a new government.

The party expressed serious concern over a series of attacks on the constitution by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Sharad Raj Pathak, spokesperson for the party, issuing a statement today, said President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who has repeatedly undermined the credibility of the presidential institution responsible for defending the constitution should be immediately impeached and dismissed.

“Contrary to the constitutional requirement for the Prime Minister to get a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives, the process of appointing a new Prime Minister on Thursday evening has been blatantly violating the Constitution,” the statement read, “The unique and highly unnatural scenario for the Prime Minister to be recommending the appointment of another Prime Minister while still in office and the President presiding over it is rarely seen in world politics.”

The party also condemned the 21-hour ultimatum to form an alternative government and said it was a continuation of the old conspiracy to destabilize the country by making Oli the prime minister again and dissolving the parliament and holding mid-term elections.
