Bike rider dies in tipper truck-hit

KATHMANDU, July 28: A motorcycle rider has died and another person has been injured after being hit by a tipper truck in Bhaktapur. 


Around 1:15 AM tonight, in New Thimi, Ward No 4 of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality in Bhaktapur, a tipper truck with the registration number Bagmati Province 4 Kha 2901 hit a motorcycle with registration number Gandaki province 7 Pa 5353 from behind.

According to Tekendra Sharma Poudel, a spokesperson for the Bhaktapur police, in the accident, 21-year-old Subhas Tamang, a resident of Mandandeupur Municipality-1 in Kavre, but currently living in Kamalbinayak, Bhaktapur, died. 


Tamang was pronounced dead by the doctors at Madhyapur Thimi Hospital at 1:45 AM while undergoing treatment. His body has been sent to Kathmandu Medical College for a post-mortem, said Police Inspector Poudel. 


The pillion rider on the motorcycle, 20-year-old Sanjeev Thapa Magar, a resident of Kamalbinayak, sustained severe injuries in the accident. He is currently receiving treatment at Madhyapur Thimi Hospital. 


The police have arrested the tipper truck driver  Raj Kumar Rai, a 28-year-old resident of Madandeupur Municipality Ward No.6 in Kavre and are conducting an investigation.
