Birgunj Metropolis unveils budget of over Rs 3.21 billion

BIRGUNJ, June 26: Birgunj Metropolitan City has presented a budget of over Rs 3.21 billion for the coming fiscal year 2023/24.


Mayor of the metropolis, Rajeshman Singh, introduced the annual estimate of revenue and expenses in the 13th convention of the Metropolis on Sunday.

Among the allocated budget by the only metropolis in Madhesh Province, over Rs 2.48 billion was allocated for recurrent expenses and over Rs 680 million for capital expenses. Likewise, over Rs 36 million has been set aside for financial management, according to Mayor Singh.


Similarly, over Rs 1.2 billion is expected to be received from internal income while over Rs 1.3 billion would be received from the federal government as a financial transfer while over Rs 44 million is expected from the provincial government.


Similarly, over Rs 250 million will be managed from the federal government revenue distribution and over Rs 27 million from provincial government's revenue distribution.


Of the over Rs 3.4 billion allocated for the ongoing fiscal year, 71 per cent is expected to be spent by the end of the fiscal year.
