KATHMANDU, June 6: The Narayangadh-Muglin road will be open round the clock after road expansion completed today. Initially scheduled to complete by 2017, the expansion was delayed by 14 months. Provided that there is no traffic congestion, a vehicle would be able to reach either of the destinations in 35 minutes.
“While the construction would have completed on time, the devastating earthquake of April 2015 and Indian blockade had slowed the pace of construction,” according to the Narayangadh-Mugling road division said on its Facebook post adding that completing it on time was a challenge as workers had to make sure it didn’t severely affect vehicular movement and cut supply in Kathmandu.

“We’d like to extend our thanks to all the workers and concerned stakeholders including the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport for their efforts,” the post said as it sought apologies from drivers and passengers who were partially affected in the course of road expansion.
However, the project will take time to complete other structural constructions such as concreting works for bridges and slope stabilization.
