Blocked Besisahar-Chame road comes into operation

KATHMANDU, June 20: The Besisahar-Chame road, which was blocked due to a landslide since last night, is now fully operational.

KATHMANDU, June 20: The Besisahar-Chame road, which was blocked due to a landslide since last night, is now fully operational. After the landslide triggered by incessant rainfall at Kharkhare Bhir in Besisahar Municipality-6 was cleared, vehicles resumed operation on the road.


Kiran Pokharel, an engineer and information officer at the Dumre-Besisahar-Chame Road Project Office, Lamjung, said, “Vehicular movement on the road has resumed after the debris was cleared with the help of an excavator.”

Pokharel said that despite the construction worth Rs 164.2 million by the federal government aimed at preventing landslides, landslides are continuing.


Similarly, both small and big vehicles have been operating on this 65km-road. The residents of Manang rely on this road to travel to Besisahar, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and other various places.
