BPKIHS conducts first successful delivery of COVID-19 patient

MORANG, 25: A COVID-19 patient undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) gave birth to a baby girl on Monday.

MORANG, 25: A COVID-19 patient undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) gave birth to a baby girl on Monday.


According to the hospital, both the mother and her daughter are stable after delivery. The newborn baby was 2.8 kilograms at birth.


The mother, 20, from Biratnagar-2, had tested positive for the virus on Aug 19 and was admitted to the hospital for treatment on Aug 23.

According to the spokesperson for BPKIHS, Dr Nidesh Sapkota, she gave birth to a baby girl at around 6 pm on Monday.


A medical team including two doctors and a nurse under the leadership of Dr Surya Prasad Rimal carried out the delivery.


The institute has been successful to conduct delivery of a COVID-19 patient for the first time.
