BPKIHS dealing with increasing dengue patients

DHARAN, May 31: Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) is faced with an increasing number of people suffering from dengue.


The hospital is dealing with 50 dengue patients for the past three weeks, a health worker said. The patients receiving treatment at the hospital are from Dharan-8 and 15 being affected by an outbreak of the disease, according to Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.

Following the disease outbreak, a rapid response team has been formed on the initiative of the sub metropolis, which is carrying out a study about the disease. The team comprises coordinator of the rapid response team, associate professor at the school of Public Health and Community Medicine of the BPKIHS, Dr Bijay Kumar Khanal, assistant coordinator, chief of the health section of Dharan Sub-Metropolis Ram Babu Yadav, Dr Prajwol Pyakurel and Dr Lok Bahadur Shrestha among others.


Maheshwor Rai, a rapid response team member, said that 41 dengue patients have been found in Dharan-15 and two in the BPKIHS quarter area.
