KATHMANDU, Feb 4 : Buddha Air is reducing airfare on Kathmandu to Janakpur flights. Issuing a statement, the airline said passengers can start traveling at the lowered fares once it starts operating its newly-acquired ATR-72 aircraft on that route.
Tickets will start from Rs 2,000, it said, adding that it will be operating ATR-42 on scheduled flights between Kathmandu and Janakpur once a day. Janakpur has been attracting many Indian and third-country tourists and the numbers have been rising sharply following start of airlines service to the region, Buddha Air said.
Buddha Air to fly on Janakpur-Ayodhya route
The airline said it would like to use bigger planes to meet the rise in demand, but this would not be possible as it could not land planes like Airbuses at Janakpur Airport unless the fence was replaced and a turning pad was constructed. According to the Civil Aviation Authority, work on both will be done as soon as possible. Tenders would be called soon, the authority said.
Buddha Air said it believed the number of tourists to the region would increase even more once the lowered rates came into effect.
