Butwal patient tested negative for COVID-19

BUTWAL, March 30: The patient who died on Sunday at Butwal based temporary hospital set up for treatment of possible coronavirus patients has tested negative for COVID-19.

BUTWAL, March 30: The patient who died on Sunday at Butwal based temporary hospital set up for treatment of possible coronavirus patients has tested negative for COVID-19.


According to the hospital's information officer Dr Bishnu Gautam, swab test report of deceased Babu Ram Thapa sent by Kathmandu based National Public Health Laboratory turned out to be negative. Test in the laboratory for twice resulted in ‘negative’, Dr Gautam said.


At a press meet today, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health Bikas Devkota also confirmed that the patient tested negative for the deadly virus.

The UAE returnee 34-year-old Thapa breathed his last at the isolation ward of the hospital set up by Lumbini Provincial Hospital at 1 pm on Sunday, according to hospital’s focal person Dr Sudarshan Thapa.


Deceased Thapa was from Sainamaina municipality-4, Rupandehi. He had returned from the Gulf nation on March 21.


He was admitted to corona special hospital set up by Lumbini Provincial Hospital on March 26.


According to focal person Thapa, he was admitted to hospital as he had developed similar symptoms of coronavirus and also based on his travel history. He had suffered from high fever, cough and cold and respiration complications.


Reason behind his death has not been clarified either.
