Cabinet decision: Nepal to take additional loan of USD 18 million from World Bank

KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The government of Nepal has decided to accept an additional loan of USD 18 million from the World Bank for the COVID-19 emergency response and public health risk preparedness project, according to government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The government of Nepal has decided to accept an additional loan of USD 18 million from the World Bank for the COVID-19 emergency response and public health risk preparedness project, according to government Spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki. 


Minister Karki also announced that the government has decided to designate Gokarneshwar Municipality-3 of Kathmandu and Rapti Municipality-6 of Chitwan as the epicenters of the Bird Flu infection and decided to destroy any birds within a 100-meter radius of the two areas to control the infection.

The government has also decided to dismiss Chief Executive Officer Rameshwar Bhattarai of Nepal Forest Corporation Ltd. Minister Karki also announced that the responsibility of necessary preparations for constructing a Labor Hospital has been given to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security. 


He also said that the government has authorized the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population to sign the agreement for the implementation of the Global fund to organize programs for the prevention of AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. The government also decided to approve the 4th Amendment Rules 2078 on Drug Registration and the 5th Amendment Rules 2078 of the Nepal Medical Council.
