Call for submission of entries for the 2024 Oscars entries

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The selection committee, Nepal, has called for entries for participation in the 96th edition of the Oscars taking place in Los Angeles, US in 2024.

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The selection committee, Nepal, has called for entries for participation in the 96th edition of the Oscars taking place in Los Angeles, US in 2024. 


The submission for the Academy Awards entries should be made by September 15, said the committee member Samipya Raj Timalsina. "After reviewing it, we will dispatch a film for entry in the Oscars until September 18. Generally, the film that shows the originality of Nepal in line with the standards set by the committee will be recommended," he said.

The criteria for the submission are: the movie should be screened within the given date as per the standards; it should be passed from the central film censor board; and it should be shown in the theaters for at least seven days or screened on the authorized OTT. 


Films that have been screened between 1 October, 2022 and 15 September, 2023 can apply for the 2024 Oscars submission. A five-member committee led by Raju KC, member of the Film Development Board has been formed for the selection of films for the Academy Awards entries. Other members of the committee are Manju Kumar Shrestha, Gautam Dhimal and Timalsena while Hritika Bhattarai is the secretary.
