CAN selects 24 players for Asia qualifiers of ICC Women's T20 World Cup

KATHMANDU, August 1: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has selected 24 players for the Asia Qualifiers of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Malaysia from August 28 to September 6.

KATHMANDU, August 1: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has selected 24 players for the Asia Qualifiers of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Malaysia from August 28 to September 6.


Under the captaincy of Rubina Chhetri, the selected players have been called for closed training. The teams participating in the Asia qualifiers are divided into two groups. Nepal has been placed in Group 'A' along with hosts Malaysia, Bhutan, Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). On the other hand, Group 'B' comprises Kuwait, China, Hong Kong, Myanmar, and Thailand. The top two teams from each group will play in the semi-finals.

The two nations that reach the final will secure their place in the Women's T20 World Cup tournament to be held in Bangladesh in 2024.


Along with Nepali team captain Rubina Chhetri, Sita Rana Magar, Indu Barma, Apsari Begum, Kabita Kunwar, Kabita Joshi, Asmina Karmacharya, Ishwori Bista, Kritika Marasini, Bindu Rawal, Nery Thapa, Kajol Shrestha and Samjhana Khadka have  been selected for the Nepali team.


Similarly, Saraswati Chaudhary, Sneha Mahara, Shristi Jaisi, Kanchan Shrestha, Roma Thapa, Sabnam Rai, Puja Mahato, Khushi Dangol, Manisha Chaudhary, Jyoti Pandey and Rubi Poddar have also been selected.
