TAPLEJUNG, June 20: The office of chief returning officer and returning officer on Tuesday provided electoral symbols to all the candidates of local units in the district.
The office of the returning officer Ashok Kumar Basnet provided electoral symbols to five candidates including two independent candidates today.
EC provides election symbols to by-election candidates
According to Basnet, independent candidate Khagendra Portel was provided camera as an electoral symbol while Chhabindra Gurung from Mangol National Organization was given a shuttle cork as an electoral symbol.
Likewise, mayoral candidate Keshav Prasad Dahal was provided a tree, Chhatrapati Pyakurel sun and Kiritman Maden was given a house as electoral symbols.
Deputy mayoral candidates Bimala Subba, Bam Bahadur Bhattarai, Amir Maden and Krishna Bahadur Shankar were given sun, encircled hammer and sickle, cow and flame as electoral symbols respectively, said office of the chief returning officer.
Three candidates of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have withdrawn their candidacies. Of the total 57 posts in Fungling Municipality, as many as 202 individuals had filed their nominations.
With their withdrawal, now 199 candidates are in the election fray for the local level elections scheduled for June 28.
