KATHMANDU, May 2: The Constitutional Council has recommended acting Chief Commissioner of CIAA Deep Basnyat as the head of the anti-graft body.
Basnyat will work as the CIAA head after the Parliamentary Special Hearing Committee endorses the recommendation.

The meeting of the CC decided to this effect. The post of the Chief Commissioner was lying vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified the then Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki. Karki who took the charge of the office in May 2013, was accused of abusing his authority to silence his personal opponents.
An impeachment motion was tabled at the parliament though it was never contested.
