Chairman Nepal congratulates Deuba

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has extended his best wishes to the incumbent Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba for being elected as the President of Nepali Congress (NC) again under the party’s 14th General Convention.

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has extended his best wishes to the incumbent Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba for being elected as the President of Nepali Congress (NC) again under the party’s 14th General Convention. 


On the occasion, Chairman Nepal wished Deuba all the success for his tenure and congratulated him for being elected as the NC president for a second time.

A total of 4623 votes were cast in the second round of the poll held in the capital on Tuesday. Deuba needed at least 2311 votes to get elected as the party president. While Deuba received a total of 2733 votes, Dr Koirala was able to secure only 1855 votes. A total of 35 votes were declared invalid. 


Although Deuba had received the highest number of votes in the first round of voting, he was unable to secure the required 51 percent votes to get elected as the party president. The second round of voting was held on Tuesday evening.
