Cheating death after aircraft engine went kaput at 11,500 feet

Captain Lama crash-landed the aircraft in Karnali River from where both of them came out safe cheating a possible death.

A single-engine aircraft of Makalu Air with a call sign 9N-AKC was returning to Surkhet after transporting cargo to Simikot of Humla when the aircraft engine went kaput at an altitude of 11,500 feet.



Captain Sangye Lama and co-pilot Prashant Shah were in the cockpit. A possible death was in front of them. At the time when the engine broke out, co-pilot Shah was steering the aircraft. Then, Captain Lama took the command of the aircraft. Captain Lama looked at the co-pilot briefly and said “No worry, I am here.”



Captain Lama crash-landed the aircraft in Karnali River from where both of them came out safe cheating a possible death.



Co-pilot Shah was overwhelmed by the courage shown by Captain Lama. He then hugged Lama and said, “Brother, you are my real hero, my real god.”



The duo looked at the aircraft that was being washed away by the river and said, “Sorry, we couldn’t save you our beloved.”
