KATHMANDU, Nov 19: Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana has fixed ten benches for the hearing of all types of cases including cases of habeas corpus at the Supreme Court for today. Chief Justice Rana, however, has not scheduled a bench for himself.
Although the chief justice has fixed nine joint benches and one single bench to hear the scheduled cases, the hearings on the cases have not started yet. Earlier on Thursday, justices at the Supreme Court including Rana had decided to schedule cases through a lottery system.
SC justices continue to refuse to hear cases scheduled by chief...
The hearing of the cases at the Supreme Court has not been able to take place since October 24 following the refusal of justices to boycott the hearing except for the cases related to habeas corpus. This has delayed justice for justice seekers, who are awaiting justice for years.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Rana has requested justices to carry out responsibilities given to them by the constitution and the law.
