KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Justices of the Supreme Court (SC) have once again refused to hear any of the cases scheduled for today by Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana. The chief justice had constituted nine benches to hear different cases on Tuesday. Among them, eight are joint benches while one is the chief justice’s single bench.
Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana had scheduled all types of cases for today including the cases related to habeas corpus. However, the agitated justices did not conduct hearings on any of the cases scheduled for today except for the chief justice himself and the joint bench of Tej Bahadur Karki and Manoj Kumar Sharma.

Earlier, the SC justices had decided not to hear any cases and had demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana for seeking his ‘share’ in the government through give and take, which has raised questions over the credibility of the judiciary.
Due to this, the hearing on the cases which were scheduled following October 25 has not taken place at the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, stating that he was given the responsibility of the chief justice by the constitution and the law and that he is eligible for the post, Chief Justice Rana had urged other justices to fulfill their responsibilities as well.
As the benches constituted for Tuesday could not hear the cases registered at the court, justice is being delayed for many justice-seekers.
