KATHMANDU, May 2: Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokharel has tendered resignation on Sunday.
According to Provincial Assembly member Indra Jit Chaudhary, Pokharel submitted his resignation on Sunday morning. This comes in the wake of a no-confidence motion filed against Chief Minister at the Province Assembly. Discussion on the no-confidence motion was scheduled to begin today.

Although the Province Assembly had decided to hold voting on the no-confidence motion on Monday, the resignation of Chief Minister Pokharel a day before the scheduled vote has left the fate of the no-confidence motion uncertain.
A lawmaker belonging to the CPN (Maoist Center) said Pokharel had decided to tender resignation after he realized that he won't be able to face the no-confidence motion.
