He said that the time has come to terminate the contract as the company, which received the contract 11 years ago, has left the ongoing construction in the lurch.

The construction of the bridge has fallen in limbo with the contractor remaining out of contact for long. The Swachhanda Contractor Company was awarded the contract for the construction of the 167-meter-long bridge in 2010. The project was supposed to be completed in 2015 as per the contract.

So far, the bridge construction has seen only about 30 percent of physical progress.
