ITAHARI, July 21: Three persons, including two children, have died in separate incidents in Sunsari district on Friday.
Three-year-old Majrun Khatun, a daughter of Jahir Khatun of Ramdhuni-2, drowned in Sunsari-Morang irrigation canal while playing, according to police.

Such incidents are not uncommon in Sunsari, where a number of children drown in rivers, streams, and ponds. The situation gets worst during the monsoon season. From July 2015 to August 2016, a total of 19 children drowned, according to police records.
Likewise, eight-year-old Simran Singh, daughter of Gautam Singh of Bishanpur-2, died Friday. The cause of the death remains unknown. She suddenly fell unconscious while going to school and died while being rushed to Simra-based Inruwa Hospital.
