BAJURA, Feb 23: Children at Amkot of Budhiganga Municipality-1 in Bajura district have shown symptoms of measles, said health workers.

Seven of the children who visited the local Dhuralsain basic health center for a health check-up exhibited the disease symptoms, said auxiliary nurse midwife Bindu Bista, adding that all of them showed the common symptoms including fever, rashes all over the body, cough and runny nose. They exhibited the symptoms a week ago, she said.

Following this, the health centre has informed the municipality health section about the matter.

The municipality has been notified about the spread of the disease symptoms in the children, said the municipality health section coordinator Dipak Shah.

A team of health workers from the laboratory at the municipality would be sent to the incident site to collect samples, he said, adding that thereafter the collected samples would be sent to the laboratory, Dhangadhi shortly.

Only the sample report would confirm the disease, he said, adding that awareness efforts are underway to curb the spread of the suspected disease.
